I've not had a good week with the TTC
- one morning they decided to cancel a series of buses (there were 3 buses saying "Not in service" together at my stop at one point!) but the most annoying part was the "jobsworth
" attitude of the drivers who were generally unhelpful to the point of being outright rude. Apart from making me really annoyed, what normally took 45 minutes instead took almost 90! ... and then it was no longer rush hour, so the advertised service the is halved! Aaargh!
The following morning there was a problem with the subway train: it looked like the doors were open on alternate carriages so people were getting on, then there was some unintelligible "announcement" and a few attempts to open the other carriages' doors. Presumably there was an announcement on the train (I was still on the platform) saying the train was going out of service, so people got off ... except for those stuck on the carriages whose doors were closed. Then they closed the remaining doors and pulled out of the station ... followed by an announcement that the technical problem had been fixed! (I wonder if those people ever got off?) It only made me about 10 minutes late but the poor/non-existent communication is just typical.
Anyway, they've announced a bunch of service improvements starting this weekend. I've just checked my route (25D)
and here's their idea of an improvement
Service on the 25D (Pape Station-16th Avenue) branch north of Steeles Avenue will change from every 31 minutes 40 seconds to every 36 minutes.
the frequency of the bus that I have to catch to get to work. Thanks. I suppose I could take the subway west, north, east and then catch a Viva
TTC - "The Better Way" ... certainly not for me :(
